Attack of the Scope Creep

1 comment:

  1. Hermes, I enjoyed your design- a scary monster is a great analogy. However, I couldn't help but think that what you describe doesn't sound as much like scope creep as just project problems and delays. I noticed this in several other blogs as well so you aren't alone.

As I understand it from the Stolovich video podcasts and our text, scope creep is when you have a project plan and things are going along just fine, then suddenly someone changes the plan by adding on deliverables or changing the focus.

If the problems you are experiencing are omissions in the ADDIE cycle, then writing that into a Project Charter with all steps laid out would address it, right? I feel your pain, we do not work from a process this prescriptive either, but I am "enamored" of Michael Greer's e-book that we've been using for this class- and I am going to MAKE my colleagues love his charts and lists too!

Good luck, that translation stuff is a bear!
